Route 36 - Center Street from the Post Office to Route 27 (School Street)

The Route 36 Reconstruction Project Schedule Has Been Announced

Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has notified the town that beginning Tuesday, August 2, 2022, there will be multiple crews on Center Street in multiple locations conducting tree removal work and preliminary drainage work which will result in travel being reduced to one lane in multiple sections of Center Street. Residents are strongly advised to seek alternate routes if possible, and drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution.


Prior Updates:
Mass DOT has advised that crews began surveying, performing utility mark outs and preparation work on Friday May 13, 2022. They also have stated that Erosion Control will be placed during the month of June, starting in mid June. Roadway Construction work will begin the first week in July, 2022.
Activities in 2021:

The town is now preparing to contact abutters to secure the required Right of Way (ROW) for the easements to execute this project. The parallel water main replacement phase one has begun, with schedules for the sequence of work as printed below. This Federal Aid Project (600380) is anticipated to bid in the fall of 2021 with preparations for the project work beginning in the late winter and early spring of 2022, and paving in the summer of 2022. Any gas or water upgrades should be completed prior to the final paving -  there will be a five (5) year street opening moratorium after the final work is complete. 

Beginning on July 19, 2021 work will be conducted between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:00 pm. Expect delays and seek alternate routes.
School Street to West Street - 9 days of work
West Street to Furnace Colony Drive - 9 days of work
Furnace Colony Drive to Fox Path - 12 days of work
Fox Path to Queensbrook Road - 14 days of work
Queensbrook Road to Elliot Avenue - 14 days of work
 
 

Completed Projects

Route 53

MassDOT is beginning work on the Route 53 state project in our area, a portion of which is in Pembroke. The estimated start date of the work is April of 2021 and will run to August of 2021; this will include road widening, curbs and sidewalks. Milling and paving will occur in August and September of 2021. For questions, please contact the District 5 Construction Office at 857-368-5104. Drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution. All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency situation.

 

Route 14

PROJECT UPDATE: October 4, 2018

The Town is pleased to hear that the Route 14 Reconstruction Project will begin to wind down at the end of this week and beginning of next week. Detours are posted for Thursday, October 5 and Friday October 6 as the contractor will be paving both sides of Route 14 (Center Street, Barker Street) between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Please seek alternate routes and follow detour the detour signs.

Route 53 and Pleasant Street Intersection Traffic Signal Project

PROJECT UPDATE: October 4, 2018

The Town has received notification from MassDOT that work is estimated to begin on October 27, 2018 on this roadway reconstruction with traffic signals project; hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm weekdays. The contractor will have to maintain alternating traffic in one direction at all times, with a lane restriction in the work zone area. Birch Street, Spring Street and Water Street

Crack sealing has been completed.  Spring Street, Birch Street and Water Street leveling course completed.  Micro Surfacing has been completed.  Stop bars and crosswalks are scheduled for the first week of October for Birch Street, Spring Street and Water Street weather permitting.  Line Painting will be done the second week of October.

Hobomock Street

Drainage work and widen of road prep work completed and Binder process done.  Granite curbing installation will be started the first week of October. New confirguration of island at the intersection of Monroe Street and Hobomock Street is completed.  New signs installed on Friday, September 8, 2017.

Line Painting

Hand crew work (stop bars and crosswalk) is planned for the first week in October.  Line painting is scheduled for the second week in October.  Weather permitting.
