Town Landing Committee Establishment/History:

The Town Landing Committee was established with a vote of Town Meeting in March of 1949 to authorize and regulate the use of the Town Landing for residents of the Town only, and that they further have jurisdiction overall other activities at the landing.

Today's Purpose:

Since the passage of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA) Article 97 Land Disposition Policy updated February 19, 1998, the Oldham Pond (Town Landing) was designated a great pond under the jurisdiction of Chapter 91 and are open for use by members of the public regardless of residency.

In December of 2018, the Town Manager Act was passed with town personnel and land use regulation authorization passing to the Town Manager. The members of the Town Landing Committee are instrumental in supporting the Town Landing Director and advising the Town Manager about conditions and concerns related to Town Landing and other ponds.
