Conservation Commission

Seven volunteer Pembroke residents are required for a full conservation commission. Each member is appointed by the board of selectmen for a period of three years. The members are responsible for hearing matters related to the Wetland Protection Act. In order to do so, their decisions are based on federal law, state regulations and local bylaws. Permits are issued contintgent on the type and extent of each project.  

The commission is complemented by an agent and an administrative agent. The main responsibility of the agent and administrative agent is to obtain and disseminate accurate information to the commission members to help them make informed decisions on behalf of their fellow residents and to enforce the decisions issued by the commission.  

The conservation office, located on the first floor of the town hall, is open daily from 9:00AM to 4:30PM, but meetings and inspections may be scheduled outside of those hours to meet the needs of the commission as well as the applicants who propose projects.
