Grants

On September 28, 2018 the Town of Pembroke submitted a Municipal Improvements Grant Application to the Massachusetts Office on Disability for review. The grant is used for the removal of architectural or communication barriers that are present in municipal properties.

The submitted application included a Self-Evaluation & Transition Plan by Weston & Sampson of six (6) Town Buildings and 6 Parks. Weston & Sampson found that all of these properties are in desperate need of ADA improvements. These improvements will allow individuals with a disability equal access to governmental services provided by the Town of Pembroke.

The maximum amount of funding the grant provides to successful applicants is $250,000. If the Town of Pembroke is given this award, we will be able to make critical ADA improvements to our buildings and parks.

Funding of these grants will allow the Town of Pembroke to provide a new handicapped parking spot at the Police Station, handicapped access into the Police & Fire Stations, repairs of the walkway that lead to the library for safe wheelchair travel, ADA compliant door knobs in Town Hall, renovations of both the men’s and women’s bathroom in Town Hall to full compliance, pathways at Herring Run Park, Little Sandy Pond, Stetson’s Pond and Luddam’s Ford for equal access to the Town’s recreational activities and several improvements to Town Landing that will allow individuals with a disability to access the water and enable them to use the playground safely.

The Town of Pembroke is determined to bring all of our buildings and parks to compliance so that individuals with a disability can have equal access to the services we provide.
