WATER MAINS TO BE FLUSHED. Flushing will take place between the hours of 7 p.m. & Midnight (M thru Thu), starting April 23, 2018 until completed, (approximately 6 to 8 weeks). Water system flushing can cause discoloration.
The flushing program will cause discolored water in varying degrees in all sections of town. Residents are advised to check for discoloration before doing laundry and to avoid doing laundry during flushing hours.
Residents who experience water discoloration should clear their water systems by opening the outside faucet closest to the water meter and running the water slowly for about 20 to 30 minutes. If the water is still not clear, please wait about an hour and begin the flushing procedure again.
The department will make every effort to keep inconvenience to a minimum. The Water Division is not responsible for any damage incurred in connection with the flushing program, which is a necessary and normal maintenance function of the water supply system and required by the state Department of Environmental Protection.
If you have any additional questions you can call the water department at 781-709-1425 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (M-F).
