Town Receives Green Communities Competitive Grant

Pembroke Town Manager Bill Chenard is pleased to announce on behalf of the Pembroke Select Board that the Town of Pembroke was one of only fifty (50) cities and towns in the Commonwealth to have our application accepted and be awarded a Green Communities Competitive Grant by the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) Green Communities Division in the amount of $136,194.

The Town of Pembroke has been in continued partnership with the Commonwealth in helping achieve clean energy and climate goals. The Town is pleased to receive financial and technical support to our efforts to reduce energy use and keep costs in check.

The DOER staff selected applications to fund based on a number of factors, including energy impacts, emissions reductions, utility incentives, reasonable budget, efficacy of measures in terms of energy savings per DOER investment, and previous grant awards. DOER also looked favorably on projects that exhibit innovation and consistency with the Commonwealth’s stated clean energy priorities.

Projects funded include LED lighting at Pembroke High School, transformer at the Mattakeesett Street Ball Field, and weatherization improvements to Town Hall.
