Congress Street Closed between #18 and #36

To all Pembroke area residents, businesses, and vendors:

The Town of Pembroke and the Department of Public Works has advised that a portion of Congress Street is closed due to an unforeseen need for repairs.

The portion of the roadway that is closed makes it no longer a through way; Congress Street is open for travel and access between Old Washington Street and #18 Congress Street, and between #36 Congress Street and Washington Street.

The closed portion is safe and secured by jersey barriers that close the road between #18 and #36 Congress Street. Engineers are reviewing the site to develop a project plan and determine an estimate and scope for the complete repair.

There is no additional information to share at this time; the project plan must first be designed, and then the town must apply for and seek funding for the implementation of the project which will be a lengthy process.

Residents, businesses, vendors, delivery services and mail carriers in the area are asked to proceed with an average caution and be prepared to stop at the barrier as there is an impasse between #18 and #36 Congress Street. Commuters are advised to seek an alternate route.

There is no construction, no remediation and no mitigation being conducted at this time while plans are being developed. When a project plan is identified, estimated, and funded, more information will be forthcoming about the timeline for the repair.

Thank you.
