Become a Label Detective

December 8th

Pembroke Senior Center 

10 am-11 am

Participants are asked to bring a food label from home; and will receive a free giveaway.The goal of this program is to educate participants on how to read a food label.  By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify nutrient and health claims that may be on a label
  • Assess sodium, sugar, and saturated fat content using the DV%
  • State the order of ingredient amounts on a label

     "There is a lot of information on food labels and it’s there to help you become savvy about the choices you make.  The front, back, and sides of a package are filled with information to inform you about what the food contains and to guide you towards making healthier selections. However, all the numbers, percentages, and terms can cause confusion versus clarity!"
