Important Information Regarding Form 3ABC

The Massachusetts “Return of Property Held for Charitable Purposes”                (Form 3ABC) provides for an exemption from local taxation on personal and real property for eligible charitable organizations. To be classified as exempt, an annual Form 3ABC must be filed with the Pembroke Assessor’s Office no later than March 1, 2024.  A copy of your most recently filed Form 990 and Form PC must also accompany the return.

If seeking a charitable exemption for the first time, an organization must also make an initial application on Form 1B-3 to the Board of Assessors.

The filing of Form 3ABC is mandatory and the requirement cannot be waived by local assessors.  If an organization fails to file this form every year, assessors are precluded from granting any exemptions.
