Pembroke Declaration of Emergency Related to Covid-19

Local Declaration of Emergency RELATED to Health concerns surrounding COVID-19,

Whereas the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Pembroke does hereby find that:
Due to the current health crisis related to COVID-19, and the Governor’s orders regarding public social distancing, we are making every effort to prepare for and react to developments to stay ahead of the threat and keep the public safe.  This is a global crisis, and we must do our jobs to control how it affects our town and residents.  

Due to the health threatening pandemic and the ongoing changes to the situation, the Town of Pembroke is facing dangerous public safety conditions of sufficient severity and magnitude to warrant coordinated local government action to prevent or alleviate the loss, hardship or suffering threatened or caused hereby;

Therefore, as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020, all Town Government Administrative Offices will be closed to the Public. 

Due to the severity of this situation, a condition of extreme peril to life necessitated the Declaration of Emergency; and

Under the authority of Massachusetts General Laws, Pembroke’s Board of Selectmen Chair and Town Manager have declared a Local Emergency beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020; and

In addition, the Town Manager has consulted with the Emergency Team and School Superintendent, to declare this local emergency and to begin coordination in order to facilitate timely information to FEMA and/or MEMA;

Now Therefore, It Is Hereby Resolved that the Declaration of a Local Emergency beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020 be hereby confirmed; and

It Is Further Resolved that during the existence of this emergency classification the powers, functions, and duties of the Town Manager and the Comprehensive Emergency Management organization of the Town of Pembroke shall be those prescribed by State Law and local charter, resolution, and approved plans of the Town of Pembroke in order to mitigate the effects of said emergency.
