Electricity Rate Update: Municipal Aggregation

National Grid filed their proposed winter Basic Service rates with the DPU for the six month period of November 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023. National Grid customers who meet certain means criteria can qualify to receive a discount on their electric bills. The NGRID assistance form can be accessed here at its new link.

These proposed rates are higher than anticipated, and significantly higher than the Aggregated Rate offered through the Town's Municipal Aggregation Program. The market has been running up over the last year and particularly in the last few months and even though National Grid procured 50% of their supply back in March, they still needed to procure the remaining 50% now.

Below are the comparative rates based on National Grids proposal to DPU.

Pembroke residents have another option for electricity supply.  All residents received notification in September of 2020 that the Town of Pembroke entered a Community Choice Power Supply Program to save residents money on electricity supply in the categories of residential, commercial and industrial electricity supply. These competitive rates will be offered by Dynegy Energy Services to Pembroke from November of 2020 through November of 2023. You may opt-in or opt-out at any time.

Given the above, we’d like to remind everyone how to opt-in to the Town’s Program should they choose to take advantage of the savings the aggregation will offer this winter, as compared to National Grid’s Basic Service.

To join Pembroke's Program, you can do one of two things:
  1. Visit colonialpowergroup.com/pembroke and click the OPT-IN button, then fill out and submit the Opt-In form.
  2. Call Dynegy at (866) 220-5696
