(June 7, 2011) Due to a major algae bloom, Oldham Pond is closed to all activity until further notice. Testing will be done this week and treatment will follow.

HOBOMOCK POND IS BEING TREATED FOR THE NON-NATIVE AND HIGHLY INVASIVE PLANT HYDRILLA.
IN AN EFFORT TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF THIS INVASIVE SPECIES TO OTHER AREA PONDS, HOBOMOCK POND WILL BE CLOSED TO ALL BOATING. THIS CLOSURE IS PER THE ORDER OF THE PEMBROKE CONSERVATION COMMISSION AND WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. see full notice. 4/27/11
Pembroke is well known for the many ponds in town. There are also beautiful beaches at some of them.
There are three town beaches in Pembroke. They are on Little Sandy Bottom Pond, Stetson Pond and Oldham Pond (Town Landing.)
Swimming lessons are offered at both Town Landing on Wampatuck Street and Little Sandy Beach on Woodbine Ave during the summer. Call Town Landing Guardhouse 781-293-3082 for swimming lesson information.

Town Pond News
Hobomock Pond is now open to passive recreational uses, boating of any kind will remain prohibited until further notice.
The Dept. of Public Health found high levels of bacteria due to a blue/green algae bloom at Stetson Pond. They recommended that the Board of Health advise residents that there should be no water contact. No swimming and no fishing at Stetson Pond until further notice. There will be posters at the pond.
