PEMBROKE ENERGY COMMITTEE MINUTES
February 11, 2009
Present: Alan Peterson, Don Anderson, Richard Jones, Nick Zechello, chair, Steve Dodge, Anne Marie Stanton.
Nick opened the meeting at 6:45 pm
Reviewed minutes of October and November meetings; accepted.
Conservation
CPA change - Nick distributed a letter from Kingston that will be going to Therese Murray’s office requesting the CPA be amended. Nick will discuss issue with Mark Ames; should a letter of support come from Pembroke?
South Shore Coalition – Nick attended the most recent meeting; they reviewed the results of the survey to the Municipal Energy Committees. Focus is on Green Communities Act. Wind turbines seem to be a focus. One of the requirements of becoming a “Green Community” is a by-law governing wind turbine permitting.
Don raised the possibility of communities combining resources – if not enough wind power in Pembroke, perhaps we could partner with another community to the benefit of both. Would the CPA allow for this sort of partnership? Further research needed.
Energy Performance Contracting:
-Meeting held with School Committee members (Chilcott, Tropeano).
Many questions on process, potential benefits. After discussion, the consensus was to get RFQ out, then see the response. Can proceed further after that.
