The DPW Commissioners voted to lift the Voluntary Water Restriction beginning October 7, 2008.

The Commissioners wish to thank the residents of Pembroke for their cooperation during the water restriction time.

September 17, 2008 Notice:

On Monday, September 22, 2008, the DPW Water Division will begin the water main flushing program.

The purpose of the flushing program is to clean accumulated iron from the distribution system.  The hours of flushing will be from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight, Monday through Thursday until the system is cleaned.  The flushing will continue through the months of
September and October.

The flushing program may cause low water pressure and discoloration of water for a short period of time.  Because of multiple crews that will be working, discoloration could occur system-wide.  Residents are urged to first check their water for color before cooking, bathing of before washing clothes or dishes.

The procedure will improve the quality of water and also cut down on dirty water complaints this fall and winter.

The DPW apologies for any inconvenience that may occur due to this necessary maintenance program.

Residents can call the DPW at 293-3874 for additional information.

Notice to all residents, June 17, 2008:
This is a friendly reminder from the DPW Water Division. As per Town By-law and the Pembroke Water Department Rules and Regulations, it is illegal to have irrigation off the Town's Water Distribution System in any manner. All irrigation must be supplied by a private well. Thank you.

By-law, section 17, article XX : water flow onto streets.
No person shall pump, pipe, or channel water in such a manner as to cause it to flow onto any street or way where it may create a hazardous traffic condition.

The Pembroke Water Division Consumer Confidence for 2007 has been released. Copies are available at the DPW office.
