PROPERTY TAX DEFERRAL - Available January 1, 2024
*****The deadline for filing is April 1, 2024 ****
Clause 41A -TAX DEFERRAL
Click here for a "Taxpayer's Guide to Local Property Tax Deferrals"
Homeowners who are 65 or older and who meet certain income guidelines may be eligible to defer up to 100% of their annual property taxes. As required by state law, deferred taxes accumulate with simple interest at 2% as a lien on the property until it is sold or the applicant is deceased. Please note the interest rate increases if the property passes to the estate.
A tax deferral should be considered when the taxpayer's current expenses make the continued ownership of his/her home difficult.
