TOWN OF PEMBROKE 300TH BIRTHDAY COMMITTEE MEETING

APRIL 14, 2009

TOWN HALL

The meeting began at 7 p.m.

A sign in sheet was passed around.

Bill Boulter began the meeting by saying he felt there should be an Executive Board for this committee. All in attendance were in agreement.

It was decided that officers should be picked at this meeting.

Bill stated that a chair, co-chair, finance chair and secretary should be appointed at this meeting. The appointments are as follows:

Bill asked if anyone wished to chair or co-chair this committee. No one in attendance stated that they would be interested. Bill then stated he would chair if no one else was interested. He feels there should also be a co-chair to work with him. No one in attendance stated that they would be interested at this time.

Bill then asked Madeline Block if she could be the finance chair for this committee as she has the experience. She stated that she would. Bill stated that Deb Mulrain, Treasurer/Collector and Mike Buckley, Town Accountant will be able to assist to transfer available funds of $5000.00. This is what is felt that would be needed to start up the 300th Birthday account.

Bill asked Janet Fahey if she would take the minutes at each meeting. She stated that she would.

A motion was made to appoint the above to positions listed. Seconded by Rose Egerton. All in favor.

ITEMS OF INTEREST AND EVENTS FOR THE 300TH BIRTHDAY

Logo Design:

A design for a logo needs to be established by the Committee. Bill already spoke to Frank Hackett at the School Dept. about this. Perhaps the children could come up with a logo. Another thought was using the same logo as was done for the 275th Birthday. This logo could be put on different items that could be sold. Discussion continued about other ideas for the logo.

Historic Tour:

Bill will ask about this type of program.

Rowing Race:

This would occur on the North River or on Oldham Pond as a canoe race.

Historic Road Race:

Bill has been in contact with Rick Kates, who has done other races in Pembroke. Bill will give us an update on any information he can obtain.

Colonial Ball:

To be held during this period of time in conjunction with all other events.

Colonial Encampment and Police Unit Tactical Team Drill:

Chris Wyman, a Pembroke Police officer will be able to give us input into this.

Craft Fair:

Parade:

Fire Works:

Memorabilia:

Plates, cups, and perhaps a Pembroke Wine (if approved)

Historic Books

Religious Activities

Time Capsule:

Laura McLeod mentioned that this should be made of titanium for longevity.

Aviation

Ho-Down:

Possibility of the Historical Society having one in Sept. of 2012.

It was felt by Bill that perhaps these events could be incorporated in the usual yearly events that Pembroke now has. For example, The Fish Fry, The Arts Festival, the parades, etc. The thought is to have an event each month of the 300th Birthday year.

Bill mentioned the importance of a chair for the Calendar of Events position. This person would need to coordinate the events in a timely manner as well as promote all the events appropriately.

It was decided at this meeting that there will be a meeting on the third (3) Tuesday of each month.

Motion to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. Seconded.

Respectfully submitted,

Janet Fahey

Secretary
