TOWN OF PEMBROKE
300th ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING
TOWN INCORPORATED MARCH 21, 1712
Date: January 19, 2011
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Place: Pembroke Country Club
The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m.
The attendance sheet was passed around.
Minutes of November 16, 2010 were accepted. Minutes were done by Margaret Neil.
1. Production: Kyle Harney reported that the script for his productions have been started and the filming will begin in the spring.
2. Kickoff Event Committee: This will be January 15, 2010 at the Pembroke Country Club. Bill mentioned that he is the only person on this committee and he will need assistance. Bill wishes to have Committee members speak about the events that they have planned at this event.
3. Booklet Committee: Libby and Katie Bates are in charge of this committee. Karen Proctor states that she can give some input. There is no report as yet. Bill will contact Libby.
4. Plate Committee: Bill has information on the plates and will present this at the next meeting.
5. Fund Raising Committee: There was no meeting last week. It was mentioned that there will be a meeting very soon.
6. Carnival: Bob Dorsey has contacted a new company. It is Finelli Family Amusement. He will have an update for us shortly. Funding will be needed for this event.
7. Fireworks: Bob Dorsey is still working on this. Funding will be needed for this event also.
8. Coins: Bob Dorsey brought in coins to present to the committee members. He will be able to have more information for us soon. Bob mentioned that he is getting information for us about tee shirts. It was mentioned that perhaps sweatshirts could be sold at the Tree Lighting.
9. Golf Tournament: Julie Thompson has joined the 300th Anniversary Committee and is willing to run a golf tournament for us. The date has been selected of May 6, 2011. It will run from 1:30 – 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold for golfing with a cart and the dinner. Tickets will also be sold for the dinner only. July mentioned that there will also be an auction and raffle.
10. Website: Make sure all Committee Chairs contact Deborah Wall with any updates. This way, she will be able to update the website.
11. Research: Karen Proctor mentioned that there is no new update.
12. Brick Walk Way: John Proctor mentioned that he is still working on this project and is getting prices. John has some information but will have more information soon.
13. Parade Committee: Phil mentioned he had a very good meeting. Jim Neenan, Rick Wall and Bob Demers are involved in this committee also. Shawn Hennigan mentioned that he will be contacting the people with the Clydesdale horses next month. Phil mentioned that he is still looking for floats for the parade.
14. Herring Run Road Race: Beth York is working on the Bill mentioned.
15. Canoe Race: No news
16. Printing: No news
17. Public Relations: Kathleen Keegan wishes any updates from Committee Chairs so they can be placed in the newspapers as she has done in the past.
18. Aviation: This is still in the planning stage. Bill still needs to check with the FAA and the Aeronautics Depts. to make sure that we can do this type of activity.
19. Tactical Unit: Chris Wyman is working with Ruth Lynch at the school to see if school grounds would be available for this event.
20. Colonial Encampment: Bill is checking on this event.
21. Historical House Tour: Judith Parks is working on this and will update soon.
22. Wine Labels: This bill is being paid. The Winery in Boston is baby sitting on our cranberries for the cranberry wine for 2012.
23. School Pins: We have no news on this as yet.
24. Town Sign: This needs to be worked on with fundraising. At this time, it will be put on the back burner.
25. Antique Car Show: There is hope to have one in 2011 and then again in 2012. Tiny Brown is very interested in this program.
26. First Church Annual Event: No update on this as yet on how this event will incorporate the 300th theme.
27. North River Cruise: No new information. Bill mentioned that Jim Hannon has information on the historical locations on the North River.
28. Quilts: Deborah Wall states that the project is coming together, but some funding will be needed.
29. Tree Planting: Rick Madden states that he will be getting information for the committee soon. A kit was shown to Rick for planting. Perhaps that could be incorporated into this program.
30. Closing Events: This will take place in December of 2012. Bill is asking for assistance with this. This will be a recognition program for volunteers. Videos, etc. will be part of the program.
