PRESS RELEASE

TOWN OF PEMBROKE

AUGUST 13, 2008

4:30 P.M.

Today’s results are 34 total samples all absent of E.coli. Three of the 34 samples tested present with coliform.

System wide sampling will be done daily. We have to work on a plan to empty the High Street Tank for a thorough inspection inside as well as a game plan to eliminate the coliform. We are working on a joint meeting with Dave Merrithew, Inc., as well as our consultants, Weston & Sampson Engineers.

Today we split into two crews for a system wide sampling. We have had Dave Merritthew, Inc. in today inspecting the Learning Lane Tank, West Elm Street Tank, and the Oak Street Tank, per Dept. of Environmental Protection’s recommendation.

The DEP will not review lifting the Boil Water Order until there is a minimum of three rounds in a row of no coliform in the Pembroke Water System. We expect the Boil Water Order to be in effect through the weekend. Having three rounds of only E.coli absent will not lift a Boil Water Order.

Next update will be tomorrow, Thursday, at 4:30 p.m.

Water is available for Pembroke residents at the Pembroke High School, on Learning Lane, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
